C94: Other leukaemias of specified cell type

C94.3: Mast cell leukaemia

Mast cell leukemia is a highly aggressive, rare type of leukemia, which is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Normally, mast cells are helpful, playing important roles in the body’s immune response, especially in allergies and asthma. However, in mast cell leukemia, these cells grow uncontrollably, causing a wide range of symptoms. Symptoms often include skin lesions, itching, and flushing parts of the skin, along with more severe complications such as an enlarged liver and spleen, and bones that are easily broken. This disease progresses rapidly, and it commonly affects the bone marrow, skin, gastrointestinal tract, liver, and spleen. It's important to note that symptoms may vary greatly from person to person due to the unique nature of this disease.
