C86: Other specified types of T/NK-cell lymphoma
C86.2: Enteropathy-type (intestinal) T-cell lymphoma
Enteropathy-type T-cell lymphoma (ETTL) is a rare and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that starts in the T-cells of the intestine. It's a type of cancer where your body's T-cells – important parts of your immune system - begin to grow abnormally and out of control, particularly in the intestinal region. ETTL often presents with symptoms such as abdominal pain, blockages in your intestines (obstruction), weight loss, nausea, and vomiting. It’s more commonly seen in people with celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder where your immune system reacts aggressively to gluten. In serious cases, ETTL may even lead to a medical emergency known as a perforated bowel, or hole in the bowel wall. The progression of the disease can be very rapid, making early detection and management vital.
