B70: Diphyllobothriasis and sparganosis
B70.1: Sparganosis
Fish tapeworms are parasites that occur in fish. Parasites are small creatures that, at least for periods of time, live off other creatures. In humans they can cause illnesses. You can become infected by eating raw fish. Fish tapeworm larvae can also be ingested along with contaminated water.
Fish tapeworm larvae can cause a lumpy, inflammatory swelling of the skin. But they can also infect muscles or organs. You may also have no symptoms at all.
