B48.2: Allescheriasis

The fungi can attack many organs in the body. These include, for example, the lungs, skin or joints. The fungi normally cause inflammation. You can then have various symptoms, such as a high temperature and pain. The fungi can also get into the blood. You will then usually be seriously ill.

People are more susceptible to fungal infections when their defense system is weak. Certain illnesses or medicines, for example, weaken the defense system.
