In America these fungi occur in the ground in dry regions. You can become infected by breathing in dust that contains germs. Sandstorms, in particular, increase this risk.
The symptoms depend on which organs and tissues the fungi have damaged.
When the lungs are inflamed by the fungi you can have a high temperature, headaches, a cough or breathing problems.
