Herpangina is caused by viruses. If you have contact with infected individuals, you can become infected with herpangina through tiny drops of saliva, for example.
With herpangina, small blisters or lesions can occur in the roof of the mouth. You can have a sore throat and fever. You may also have headaches or need to vomit.
