B00: Herpesviral [herpes simplex] infections
B00.0: Eczema herpeticum
There are various kinds of herpes viruses. You have been infected with herpes simplex viruses. A person can be infected with herpes viruses via saliva, for example, or through sex. Some of the viruses remain in your body throughout your life. For example, if you are stressed or the defense system is weakened, the viruses can cause symptoms again.
Your skin was probably damaged before you became infected with the viruses. Perhaps your skin was very dry or inflamed in certain places, for example. This is why the condition has been more severe than normal in your case.
Infection with herpes viruses causes itchy blisters to form on the skin, which burst and crust over. These blisters often occur mainly on the face, chest and arms. The viruses will often make you feel very weak, and you may have a fever and headaches. Sometimes the lymph nodes swell up and are painful. The viruses can make you severely ill.
