A96: Arenaviral haemorrhagic fever

A96.8: Other arenaviral haemorrhagic fevers

Arenaviruses occur in Africa and South America, for example. You can get infected by coming into contact with the bodily fluids of rodents. The viruses can also be absorbed by unwashed food or breathed in as dust.

These viruses typically cause hemorrhaging. This may involve bloody spots on the skin, for example. You may also have fever and soreness in your limbs.
