A85: Other viral encephalitis, not elsewhere classified
A85.0: Enteroviral encephalitis
On the outside of the brain and spinal cord there are three thin meninges (linings). A tough meninx, the dura mater, is on the outside. Below that are two soft meninges.
There are various kinds of pathogens. You have been infected with viruses. The viruses are transmitted for instance by contaminated food or water.
It is possible to have only mild symptoms or none at all with the disease. You may also have severe headaches or a fever. You will potentially feel very weak or have to vomit. Sometimes you will behave differently than usual or lack proper awareness. It may also be the case for example that you have seizures or can no longer properly feel certain parts of your body. You may be very severely ill. Particular symptoms may remain for a long time. Apart from the brain, the viruses can also damage other organs. For example, they may cause inflammation of the eyes, lungs or abdominal organs.
