A81: Atypical virus infections of central nervous system
A81.2: Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy
The brain is made up of several areas. For example, the cerebrum is used to think and plan actions. In the cerebellum, movements are initialized and coordinated. The brain stem is responsible for various unconscious tasks such as breathing. The brain stem passes into the spinal cord.
Your brain was damaged by what are known as JC viruses. This occurs especially when the defense system is weakened. Other diseases or drugs for instance can weaken the defense system.
With the disease, it is often not possible to move certain areas of the body or one entire side of it properly. No longer being able to speak or see is common. The memory and concentration often decline.
This disease makes you severely ill.
