A78: Q fever
The condition is caused by bacteria. These bacteria occur in sheep, cattle and goats, for example. You can become infected by breathing in dry animal excrement along with dust. Infection can occur via the skin if contact is made with meat or other products from infected animals.
Q fever can be accompanied by a sudden high fever, headaches and limb pain. The lungs may also become inflamed. Inflammation of the lungs can be accompanied by a dry cough or chest pain.
If the illness does not clear up, the liver or heart can also become inflamed. The fever can then recur or persist. However, the Q fever may not cause you any problems.
