The illness is caused by certain bacteria that occur in ticks.

This tick typhus can be accompanied by fever, headaches and limb pain. There may be changes to the skin. The tick bite can make the skin go very red. Pink spots can occur on the skin of the hands and feet. Over time these spread all over the body. Later, the spots can become darker, tangible pustules.
