A77: Spotted fever [tick-borne rickettsioses]
A77.0: Spotted fever due to Rickettsia rickettsii
The illness is caused by certain bacteria. The bacteria are spread via a tick bite. Rocky Mountain spotted fever occurs in America.
You may also have a high temperature and be severely ill. Headaches and limb pain may also occur. The tick bite can make the skin go very red. Pink spots can occur on the skin of the hands and feet. Over time these spread all over the body. Later, the spots can become darker, tangible pustules.
Rocky Mountain spotted fever can also cause inflammation in the blood vessels and internal organs, such as the heart and liver.
