Spotted fever is caused by bacteria. The bacteria are spread by body lice.
Spotted fever can be accompanied by a high fever. You can also have headaches and muscle pain. Pink spots can occur on the skin. Later the spots can darken and turn into tangible pustules.
When someone has had spotted fever once, it can recur several years later. When spotted fever recurs, the symptoms may be milder than the first time.
