Spotted fever is caused by bacteria. The bacteria are spread by body lice.
With spotted fever, you may have a high fever and be severely ill. You may then also be confused. You can also have headaches and muscle pain. Pink spots can occur on the skin. Later the spots can darken and turn into tangible pustules.
