A74: Other diseases caused by chlamydiae
A74.0: Chlamydial conjunctivitis
Among other things, chlamydia can be transmitted by contaminated water in a swimming pool. Your conjunctiva has become inflamed due to chlamydia. The transparent conjunctiva covers the eye and the inside of the eyelids. Along with the tears, the conjunctiva forms a liquid film on the eye. Together, the conjunctiva, the eyelids, and the liquid film on the eye all protect the eye from external agents. The conjunctiva also helps defend against pathogens.
When the conjunctiva is inflamed, the eye can become itchy and painful. What is more, the conjunctiva is usually reddened. A lot of tear fluid often flows and sometimes there may also be mucus or pus from the eye.
