A31: Infection due to other mycobacteria

A31.1: Cutaneous mycobacterial infection

Mycobacteria are a particular type of bacteria. The bacteria trigger symptoms when the body’s defense system is weakened. The symptoms depend on which organ is affected. The bacteria are resistant to many drugs. The bacteria are difficult to treat. Treatment is therefore over a long period for the most part.

Your skin has been inflamed by the bacteria. In the process, lumps or open sores can form on the skin.
