A28: Other zoonotic bacterial diseases, not elsewhere classified
A28.0: Pasteurellosis
This illness is caused by certain bacteria. The bacteria mainly occur in cats and dogs. You can become infected by having contact with an infected animal.
If you are scratched or bitten by an infected animal, the location can be very painful. The lymph nodes near to the wound can swell up and also be painful. The lymph nodes are small bean-shaped objects. They are found throughout the body. Lymph nodes filter the tissue fluid. They are part of the defense system.
You can also have fever and sore limbs, and headaches. The bacteria can also spread through the body via the blood. This can make you very sick.
