A07: Other protozoal intestinal diseases

A07.8: Other specified protozoal intestinal diseases

Protozoa are very small and consist of a single cell. They can infect the intestines as parasites and trigger diseases there. Parasites live completely or partially at the expense of another living organism. Infection occurs when the protozoa are taken in through the mouth. This can happen through water or food that is not clean. You get infected with some pathogens when you eat raw meat.

You have an intestinal disease caused by protozoa.

Being infected with these protozoa can result in your intestines becoming inflamed. There may also be diarrhea.

The disease can also progress without any symptoms.
