Endodontics - Master Program. From Basics to Expert

Endodontics Master Program with Dr. Kosturkov — 6 modules, one goal: from fundamentals to expert level. This intensive program in endodontics combines theory, hands-on practice and motivation to guide participants from their first steps to clinical mastery. In an era of advancing microscopy, 3D printing and increasingly complex cases, this training gives clinicians the up-to-date skills needed to deliver predictable, high-quality endodontic care.

Who should attend: general dentists, endodontists, restorative specialists, dental residents and clinic owners who want to strengthen their endodontic practice. The program is designed for clinicians at all levels — from those building foundational skills to practitioners seeking advanced, clinic-ready techniques.

What participants will gain: a complete, clinically focused endodontic workflow — from diagnosis and microscope use to canal shaping, disinfection and obturation, as well as retreatment and management of complications such as separated instruments, perforations and resorptions. The course emphasizes live demonstrations and extensive hands-on practice on realistic 3D-printed models and extracted teeth to build precision and confidence for everyday practice.

  • Develop precise microscope-assisted technique and fine motor control.
  • Learn contemporary protocols for canal preparation, disinfection and obturation.
  • Gain real-case experience and strategies for managing complex and retreatment cases.

Led by Dr. Kosturkov, the master program centers on practical training and real clinical cases, with live demos and guided hands-on sessions to ensure measurable skill development. Reserve your place to advance your endodontic competence and confidence.

Module 1: Using the Dental Microscope and Diagnostic Techniques

Develops clinicians' skills in operating the dental operating microscope and applying endodontic diagnostic protocols.

Intended audience: general dentists, endodontists, and postgraduate dental students.

Outcomes/skills:

  • Set up and maintain a dental operating microscope: identify components, perform parfocal adjustment, apply ergonomic positioning, coordinate assistant workflow, and document procedures.
  • Execute endodontic diagnostics: follow diagnostic steps and criteria, differentiate pulp and periapical diseases including difficult differentials, and integrate radiographic and CBCT findings into a treatment plan.
  • Apply microscopic clinical techniques: perform fine-motor exercises and hand movements on a typodont (phantom head) under magnification, document cases with the microscope, and formulate diagnostic-driven treatment plans.

Module 2: Pre-Endodontic Build-ups and Isolation

Covers preendodontic restorations and operative-field isolation with rubber dam. Intended audience: general dentists and endodontists performing restorative and endodontic treatments.

Outcomes/skills:

  • Identify and use instrumentation and clamp selection; apply isolation techniques for single-tooth, segmental, and split-dam configurations.
  • Execute preendodontic build-ups for severely damaged teeth and create traditional, conservative, and ultra‑conservative endodontic access while locating canal orifices under magnification.
  • Demonstrate rubber-dam placement in maxillary and mandibular regions and perform practical isolation for single teeth, segments, and split-dam technique.

Module 3: Shaping, Disinfection and Obturation of Root Canals

Topic: endodontic access, three‑dimensional canal shaping, contemporary disinfection and obturation.

Intended audience: general dentists and endodontists seeking hands‑on skills in modern root canal therapy.

Outcomes/skills:

  • Execute and differentiate traditional, conservative and ultra‑conservative endodontic access using appropriate instruments and rules for locating orifices and canals.
  • Create a reproducible machine glide path and perform 3D canal shaping with fully motorized protocols, including pre‑operative management and instrumentation techniques for curved canals.
  • Apply contemporary disinfection strategies (selection of irrigants, activation methods such as passive ultrasonic and laser, and intracanal medication) and select and perform obturation techniques (single‑cone with bioceramic sealer; warm techniques including continuous wave of condensation and squirting), including cleaning the pulp chamber and placing an adhesive barrier.

Module 4: Non-surgical Endodontic Retreatment

Provides practical and theoretical training in endodontic retreatment, intraradicular post removal and management of canal obstructions. Intended audience: general dentists and endodontic clinicians performing or planning retreatment procedures. Outcomes include: ability to create predictable endodontic access, locate canal orifices and negotiate calcified and curved canals; safe removal of metal and fiber‑glass posts and thorough removal of existing root canal fillings and cements; and identification, prevention and management of ledges and apical blockages, including techniques to bypass and remove apical plugs.

Module 5: Management of Teeth with Separated Endodontic Instruments

Covers management of separated endodontic instruments; intended for endodontists and general dentists performing root canal treatment. Teaches to identify causes of instrument separation and apply prevention measures. Trains step-by-step bypass techniques and concrete removal methods (microtube, ultrasonic, braiding). Provides hands-on practice to develop proficiency in microtube, ultrasonic and braiding techniques for extracting separated instruments from root canals.

Module 6: Management of Teeth with Perforations, Resorptions, and Open Apices

Provides practical and theoretical training in diagnosis and management of root perforations, internal/external resorptions, and teeth with open apices, emphasizing MTA and bioceramic (biosilicate) materials and ultrasonic techniques.

Intended for endodontists, general dentists, and advanced dental trainees seeking hands‑on repair and vital‑pulp treatment skills.

Outcomes/skills:

  • Explain etiology, classification, prognosis, and select appropriate diagnostic and treatment approaches for perforations and resorptions.
  • Demonstrate clinical use and material selection: dosing, mixing, and placement of MTA and bioceramic/biosilicate cements, ultrasonic condensation, and matrix/apical‑plug techniques using resorbable/collagen matrices for open apices.
  • Perform biological (vital‑pulp) treatments for cases with pulp communication and for deep caries without pulp exposure: prepare intracanal medicaments, apply pulp covers, and restore the cavity; integrate multidisciplinary approaches as needed.
