The modern approach to endodontic treatment (English course)

Endodontics

General information:

Endodontics - a comprehensive program with one goal: from fundamentals to expertise with Dr.Kosturkov. The program combines theory, hands-on practice, and professional guidance to lead participants from their first steps in endodontics to advanced clinical mastery. Throughout the course, attendees will learn real clinical techniques, manage complex and challenging cases, and develop the precision that makes a difference in the everyday practice. The training is centered around practical work and real cases, helping participants build confidence that enables calm, skilled, and independent clinical performance. During the program, participants will acquire theoretical knowledge, observe live demonstrations, and apply what they have learned on 3D-printed models replicating real clinical scenarios.

What Participants Will Learn:

Participants will go through the entire clinical workflow in endodontics - from diagnosis and microscope use, through shaping and disinfecting root canals, to complex procedures such as retreatment, more challenging clinical situations. The training combines theory, demonstrations, and extensive practical exercises on realistic 3D models and extracted teeth, ensuring the development of strong skills and clinical confidence.

Benefits for Participants:

Gain a complete understanding of the endodontic process - from fundamentals to expert-level approaches. Develop precision and fine motor skills when working under the microscope. Master modern techniques for shaping, disinfecting, and obturating root canals. Gain experience with real clinical cases and enhance diagnostic abilities. Learn strategies for managing complex cases - separated instruments, perforations, open apex conditions. Build confidence for independent and effective work in everyday clinical practice.

9 hours 30 minutes

Diagnosis, treatment plan, preendodontic restorations, isolation of the operative field

Theory:

Endodontic diagnostics:

  • Diagnostic steps, criteria and examinations.
  • Diagnosis and differential diagnoses of pulp and periapical diseases.
  • Difficult differential diagnoses.
  • Treatment plan. Radiographic and CBCT diagnostics.

Practice:

  • CBCT diagnostics – working with software and analysis.
  • Solving clinical cases – refining the diagnosis and creating a treatment plan – discussion.
  • Pre-endodontic buildups – types, techniques and materials for their fabrication.

Isolation of the operative field with rubber dam:

  • Familiarization with the isolation instruments.
  • Clamps – types and application.
  • Isolation techniques – single tooth, segment.
  • Split-dam technique – why, when and how to apply.
  • Pre-endodontic buildups of severely damaged teeth.
  • Creation of a traditional endodontic access with localization of the orifices and root canals under magnification.

Access, Shaping, Filling

Endodontic access:

Theory

  • Types of endodontic access
  • Principles for creating endodontic access
  • Instruments for endodontic access
  • Rules for locating orifices and root canals
  • Traditional access – rules and methods of preparation

Practice

  • Placement of rubber dam in different areas of the dentition – upper and lower jaw
  • Isolation of a single tooth, segment and 'split-dam' technique
  • Creation of endodontic access – classic and conservative approach for all tooth groups (work on extracted teeth)

Root canal shaping:

Theory

  • Endodontic instruments – types of instruments, properties and application
  • Techniques for instrumentation of root canals
  • Creation of a glide path – types and methods
  • Hand instrumentation – why, when and how
  • Fully mechanical protocol for instrumentation
  • Management of curved canals – preoperative analysis, tools and technique
  • Disinfection of root canals – modern approaches
  • Irrigation solutions – advantages and disadvantages
  • Disinfection protocols
  • Techniques for activation of irrigants
  • Intracanal medication – agents and application
  • Laser disinfection of the endodontic space

Practice

  • Work on plastic teeth/blocks and extracted teeth
  • Pre-coronal enlargement
  • Creation of a mechanical glide path
  • Machine instrumentation of root canals
  • Disinfection – passive ultrasonic activation and laser-assisted techniques

Root canal obturation:

Theory

  • Methods and materials for obturation
  • Indications for the different techniques
  • Single-cone technique – indications and application (bioceramic sealer, gutta-percha)
  • Warm techniques: continuous wave of condensation and squirting technique – indications and application
  • Cleaning of the pulp chamber and adhesive barrier

Practice

  • Filling root canals with the single-cone technique
  • Obturation with warm techniques – continuous wave of condensation and squirting technique
